Hanover looking to recruit new firefighters through upcoming open house

The Hanover Fire Department is offering anyone who has ever dreamed of being a firefighter the chance to take the first steps in making that dream a reality.

The department will host a recruitment open house at its fire station at 670 1st Street in Hanover at 7 p.m. on September 16. Those in attendance will learn about the responsibilities firefighters undertake, the training and professional development the department provides, and the compensation, benefits, and advancement opportunities. A guided tour of the station and an overview presentation will also be included in the evening, along with a chance to speak directly with active firefighters about the job and their experiences.

“Joining the Hanover Fire Department starts with understanding the commitment and rewards of the role,” Fire Chief Jeff Dentinger said in a statement. “Our recruitment open house gives prospective firefighters and their families the chance to learn more, ask questions, and decide if this is the right path for them.”

The fire department encourages spouses and partners of those interested in becoming a firefighter to also attend the open house.

The evening will conclude with participants receiving details on how to submit a formal application to the Hanover Fire Department.
