The YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey, Bruce and West Simcoe will be splitting $11,882.37 raised through a recent fun run.
More than 300 people ranging in age from 1 to over 80 years old, took part in the annual Cobble Beach 5km Lighthouse Fun Run held on April 27. This was the third year the run has been held.
"We are so grateful to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and supported this event," said YMCA Manager of Fund Development April McMillan. "A heartfelt thank you to Cobble Beach for being a committed and generous partner over the past three years, your continued support helps make this event such a success year after year."
McMillan added that money raised through the event will be used to support local programs for children, youth, and families in the region.
"Because of this collective effort, we’re able to provide children with swimming lessons, help seniors stay active and connected, empower youth to build resilience, and offer individuals in need a safe place to grow and belong,” said McMillan.
Last year, the run brought in $5,500 for charity.
