Former NHLer Todd Warriner has been named the interim head coach for the Windsor Lancers' women's hockey team.
The Blenheim native is taking over for Deanna Iwanicka, who stepped down from the role in April after serving behind the bench for eight seasons.
"His experience at the highest levels of hockey, including his skill development knowledge and his understanding of what it takes to build a successful culture, will be invaluable to our student-athletes," said Stephanie White, Director of Athletics for the Windsor Lancers.
Warriner brings with him tonnes of playing experience, having played for six different NHL teams over 13 seasons. He is also an Olympic Silver medalist, as he helped Canada finish second at the 1994 Olympics in Norway.
Warriner also has some coaching experience, working behind the bench in the Oberliga and DEL2 leagues in Germany from 2023-26. In 2025, he was named Coach of the Year in the Oberliga.
"I am really excited for the opportunity to get to work with this talented group of student-athletes and to help continue to move this program forward," he said.
Warriner is also no stranger to Lancers hockey, having previously been part of the men's hockey coaching staff, playing an integral role in player development.
