Wet weather couldn't keep the walkers away.
The 2026 Chatham Kidney Walk took place on September 20, raising $5,828 in support of Canadians living with kidney disease. The money goes to support patient services, public education, advocacy initiatives, and kidney research.
The total fell short of it's $11,750 goal, but the Kidney Foundation of Canada is celebrating the event as a success, adding that fundraising is still underway and donations are still being counted.
"The generosity of the Chatham-Kent community helps provide hope and support to kidney patients and their families while advancing research that will improve lives for generations to come," said Shannon Van Watteghem-Levasseur, Fund and Community Development Officer with The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Windsor and District Chapter.
The annual event doesn't just raised money, it's an opportunity to bring together kidney patients, transplant recipients, living donors, family members, healthcare professionals, and community supporters. It also helps raise awareness.
