No injuries are reported after a shed fire west of Wallaceburg, but damage is estimated at $150,000.
Chatham-Kent (CK) Fire and Rescue said a total of 10 firefighters encountered a fully involved 24 x 30-foot shed with a collapsed roof on Steward Line in Wallaceburg Thursday afternoon.
The structure was reportedly being used as a wood mill and contained an extensive wood fire load both inside and surrounding the building.
Fire officials noted the flames extended to a nearby smaller woodshed, but they were quickly brought under control and extinguished.
"Due to the structural collapse and heavy fire conditions, a defensive attack strategy was implemented. A water shuttle operation was established to support ongoing suppression efforts. The fire was deep-seated, making extinguishment prolonged and challenging," said CK Fire.
Fire crews remained on scene for approximately 2.5 hours.
The exact cause is unknown at this time.
