Man facing multiple assault charges

A man is facing multiple charges after someone was reportedly struck with a metal pipe, stabbed with a knife, and almost hit by a vehicle.

Windsor police said officers responded to a report of a fight at 7:30 p.m. on February 7, in the Crawford Avenue and University Avenue West area.

Officers determined through an investigation that, following an argument, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a metal pipe and stabbed them with a knife. When the victim attempted to flee, the suspect reportedly tried to strike the victim with a vehicle.

The suspect was identified as Shane Pierre Sylvestre, 41, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. At the time, Sylvestre was bound by 20 separate Canada-wide driving prohibitions.

On February 26, Sylvestre was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, two counts of assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, and breach of probation.
