Windsor-Essex well-represented in Ontario's top 100 festivals

Windsor-Essex continues to be a popular place for festivals.

According to Festival and Events Ontario's (FEO) annual listing of the Top-100 Festivals in the province, released on Thursday, five events in the region made the cut.

Bright Lights Windsor, a holiday lights extravaganza that draws tens of thousands of people to Jackson Park during the holiday season, made the list.

The Town of Amherstburg had two festivals appear on the list, with one of them also holiday-themed, the River Lights Winter Festival.

The Uncommon Festival, which takes over the historic downtown area in the fall and celebrates themes ranging from steampunk to magic and mystery, was also named.

The Essex Fun Fest, which draws crowds to the Essex Sports Complex on the first weekend in July, is a Top-100 festival.

A perennial event in the Top-100 made the list again, the LaSalle Strawberry Festival.

The Top 100 Festivals were revealed on Wednesday night during FEO's annual conference in Kitchener.
