The Town of LaSalle is considering a licensing program for short-term rentals in the municipality.
A short-term rental is considered a space that is rented out, not as a permanent place to live, but for a short term. This would include small inns, bed and breakfasts, and Airbnbs.
Through the licensing program, the town would track an inventory of operating STRs, address compliance with fire, building, and health and safety codes, and require proof of liability insurance. The program would also track compliance, issue orders, and hand out suspensions.
There would be a licencing fee based on cost recovery, but the amount has not been identified.
If the program is adopted, the administration recommends starting the program in 2027, to allow a fee schedule to be developed.
A report on licensing programming will be discussed at the Monday, February 23, meeting of LaSalle Town Council.
Before the meeting, the town wants to hear from residents. Comments on the report can be left here.
