Working smoke alarms alerted the occupants of a home on College Avenue North to a fire early Tuesday morning.
Sarnia Fire Rescue Services responded to the fire, between Davis and Cromwell Streets, just before 7:30 a.m.
Three people were home at the time and got out safely.
No injuries were reported.
While the cause and damage estimate have yet to be determined, firefighters said the incident serves as an important reminder that working smoke alarms save lives.
Residents are reminded to test alarms regularly and ensure there is a working smoke alarm on every level of your home and outside all sleeping areas.
