Warwick Township installs $6.4K commemorative sidewalk to honour veterans

Warwick Township has unveiled a new commemorative sidewalk in Watford, creating a lasting walkway of honour to pay tribute to local veterans.

Public Works Manager Kyle Chisholm tells Sarnia News Today it was completed earlier this week.

"It's a collaboration between us and our local Legion branch as a way to honour veterans," Chisholm said. "We've basically worked with them and a local contractor to come up with a design in front of the cenotaph, that we feel is a nice way to honour the service and sacrifice veterans have made for our country."

The project, at the corner of Ontario Street and Nauvoo Road, was estimated to cost just over $6,400.

"We had some funding remaining in our sidewalk maintenance annual budget, so we're going to repurpose it to cover our costs for this project," Chisholm said.

Crews prepared the area on Tuesday, and Mobil Estimating painted the design on Wednesday.
