Man facing more than a dozen charges in IPV investigation

A Sarnia man is facing more than a dozen charges in an Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) investigation.

Sarnia police were called to the five corners area on Mitton Street South around 5 p.m. on April 18, after it was reported that a man inside the home was causing a disturbance while in possession of a firearm.

The initial caller was able to leave the residence. As officers secured the area, a shelter‑in‑place advisory was issued to nearby homes.

Negotiators established communication with the suspect, who confirmed he had a firearm.

After an hour of negotiations, police teams successfully negotiated the suspect’s arrest.

The shelter‑in‑place advisory was lifted, and there were no injuries.

A search warrant was later executed at the residence, resulting in the seizure of firearms.

The man was for bail on 13 charges, including two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.

As this incident was the result of an IPV investigation, the accused's name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
