The City of Sarnia is seeking additional funding from the County of Lambton.
The city is requesting a total of $335,084 in funding for its Planning and Development Services Department.
In a report to the Committee of the Whole Wednesday morning, it states $118,869 will go towards year-over-year cost increases and $216,215 will fund two additional planning positions with the city.
The report said the City of Sarnia rationalizes its request for additional funding under the City/County Agreement on account of anticipated projected population and employment growth and associated development in the city.
According to a recent official plan review, Sarnia is anticipated to account for half of the county's population growth and 68 per cent of its employment growth to 2051.
The funding request will be dealt with during budget deliberations in the new year.
