A camping trailer being hauled by a commercial vehicle, deemed unsafe by police, came loose and took out a hydro pole on Rokeby Line.
On Saturday, December 7, Lambton OPP were called to the crash, west of Telfer Road in St. Clair Township.
Lambton OPP said there was significant damage, as the pole and power lines were both brought down, but no injuries were reported.
Police, along with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO), conducted a thorough investigation.
A 34-year-old from Enniskillen Township has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:
- Operate unsafe combination of vehicles - commercial motor vehicle
- Operate vehicle - fail to display inspection sticker or proof
- Fail to surrender completed daily inspection report
- Overweight vehicle - violate permit 7000 kg
- Drive commercial motor vehicle - no valid CVOR certificate
- Wheel brake rendered inoperable - commercial motor vehicle
- Improper means of attachment - commercial motor vehicle
Rokeby Line between Telfer Road and Waubuno Road was closed for about eight hours to allow for necessary repairs.
The accused has a future court date in Sarnia.
