Three hunters have been fined a total of $9,000 after pleading guilty to multiple hunting violations.
The Ministry of Natural Resources said the investigation into a deer hunting group began in September 2025. That's when a review of wild game records revealed inconsistencies compared to mandatory hunter reporting to the Fish and Wildlife Licensing Service.
In November 2025, the investigation led conservation officers to a hunt camp west of Lucknow in Huron County, where an untagged deer was found in a barn. After receiving statements from the group, it was determined that three men had committed multiple violations across the 2023-2025 hunting seasons.
In court, a Grey County man pleaded guilty to enabling another person to unlawfully use his deer hunting licence and to possessing a deer without a tag attached. He was fined $1,500.
A man from Chatham-Kent was fined $4,000 after he pleaded guilty to offences including unlawfully hunting deer in a controlled deer hunt, possessing another person’s deer tag while hunting, possessing a deer without a tag attached, possessing a void licence, and making a false statement in a document.
Another Chatham-Kent native was fined $3,500. He pleaded guilty to charges including unlawfully hunting deer in a controlled deer hunt, failing to invalidate a deer tag immediately after harvest, possessing another person’s deer tag while hunting, possessing deer without a tag attached, and two counts of making a false statement in a document.
