South Huron moving to transfer Jessica's House property to hospice board

The Municipality of South Huron is moving to transfer ownership of the property housing Jessica's House to the hospice organization itself.

Council approved the move at its September 8, 2026 meeting following a request from the Jessica's House Hospice Board.

South Huron has held the lands connected to the hospice since the project was being developed nearly a decade ago.

"The Municipality entered into agreements to hold lands for the development of a hospice to be known as 'Jessica's House' in 2017," the municipality said in its council highlights.

The hospice board has now asked for the property to be transferred into its ownership.

Council agreed to cover the costs required to complete the property transfer as an in-kind donation.

Mayor George Finch and the municipal clerk have also been authorized to sign the documents needed to complete the transaction.

The lands are legally identified as Parts 2, 3 and 4 of Plan 22R6530 in the Municipality of South Huron.

Jessica's House provides hospice and palliative-care services in the Exeter area and is listed by South Huron among the community's local non-profit organizations.

The transfer will shift ownership of the hospice property from the municipality to the Jessica's House Hospice Board once the required legal work is complete.
