A pair of charity walks coming to midwestern Ontario this month will allow participants to stay in their pyjamas while raising funds for families whose children are battling cancer.
The Childcan Pyjama Walk will happen from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday at Lion's Park in Mitchell and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 19 at Harrison Park in Owen Sound.
The annual awareness and fundraising event is held each year in solidarity with kids undergoing cancer treatment. Participants are encouraged to walk in their jammies to show young cancer patients, who rarely get to change out of theirs, that they are not alone.
Participants can choose to walk 2.5 kilometres or 5 kilometres. All proceeds raised will go to support personalized and responsive programs and services for families dealing with childhood cancer, as well as paediatric cancer research.
A local family will share their story at the opening ceremonies of each event. Other pyjama walks will be held in London, LaSalle, Brights Grove, and Sault Ste. Marie.

Childcan, which was established in 1974, provides the families of children diagnosed with cancer with financial, emotional, and social support.
