The fundraising program has been officially launched for the Lighthouse to Lighthouse Half Marathon and 5K, which will support the hospital and MRI expansion in Kincardine.
This event will take place on October 4, and the Kincardine and Community Healthcare Foundation says the half marathon is already sold out but there is still room to join the 5K. The Foundation encourages participants to begin fundraising early and take advantage of the incentive program which runs to September 20.
One of the first teams to register was Gurbin’s Gang, led by Dr. Jason Murray and created in recognition and honour of Dr. Gary Gurbin, who recently retired after decades of dedicated service and compassionate care to local families. The team was formed by the doctors and nurses at South Bruce Grey Health Centre who wanted to celebrate Dr. Gurbin’s legacy in a meaningful way.
The public is encouraged to support Gurbin's Gang or any of the other registered teams and individuals. You can support a team at raceroster.com by searching for the Lighthouse to Lighthouse Half Marathon and 5K and selecting “view teams” to find your favourite team to support.
Funds raised through Lighthouse to Lighthouse directly support the hospital expansion in Kincardine, including a new emergency department, expanded laboratory, and modern medical imaging including the region’s first MRI machine.
