Wingham outpatient lab moving from Royal Oaks to Hospital

Outpatient lab services in Wingham are moving from Royal Oaks to the Wingham Hospital next month.

The Wingham and District Hospital Alliance confirms the change will take effect July 2, 2026, with the outpatient lab moving to a lower-level location inside Wingham Hospital.

“I can confirm that effective July 2, the Outpatient lab at Royal Oaks will move to a lower-level location at the Wingham Hospital,” Alliance Communications lead Brady Wood said in an email to CKNXNewsToday.ca.

The Alliance said the move could eventually lead to improved access.

"This move will also allow us to look at opportunities to enhance access over time, which may include expanded service hours and additional appointment options, such as evenings or walk-in availability," Wood said.

Wood said patients affected by the move have been notified, and online booking will remain unchanged.

The Royal Oaks Outpatient Lab is currently listed at 271 Frances Street in Wingham, where patients can book bloodwork appointments online. A lab requisition is required, while ECG (Electrocardiogram) appointments and appointments for children nine and younger must be booked by phone.

According to current booking information, the lab completes most tests, though some specialty tests are not offered and patients may be directed elsewhere.

Wood said more information about the move will be posted on the Alliance website early next week.
