Body of missing swimmer pulled from Lake Huron

Lambton OPP say the body of a 22-year-old from Nepal has been pulled from the waters of Lake Huron in the area of Port Franks.

On May 18, at around 3 p.m., police, Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services, and Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to reports of a raft carrying five individuals experiencing distress on Lake Huron.

Police said two people were able to swim to shore, two others returned to the raft, and one person was unaccounted for.

The missing person's body was recovered on Friday afternoon from the waters of Lake Huron along the shoreline in Lambton Shores.

The Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service helped to identify the body.

Lambton OPP said it recognizes the impact this incident has had on the individuals involved, their loved ones, first responders, and the broader community.

Police are thanking the public for their patience and support throughout the search effort.
