One person is facing charges after a stabbing in downtown Owen Sound left a woman with serious injuries.
Owen Sound police were called about an assault with a weapon on 2nd Avenue East, south of 10th Street East around 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Officers arrived to find a woman suffering from apparent stab and slash wounds. She was taken to hospital for treatment of serious, non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, witnesses to the incident held a suspect until officers arrived.
A 22-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested and a knife was seized.
The accused is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
Police believe the stabbing was an isolated incident and reassure there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The investigation is ongoing, police added.
