Residents are being asked to offer their thoughts on plans for a new school that will be built in Port Elgin.
A media release from the Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) is welcoming public consultation on the yet-to-be-named new Kindergarten to Grade 6 elementary school that will be built to accommodate growth in the Town of Saugeen Shores.
Students, staff, families, and others in the community may visit the board’s website to view the preliminary floor plan and renderings for the two-story school.
A dedicated email address, pesdesignreview@bwdsb.on.ca, has been created to gather public feedback and questions regarding the new build until Friday, May 22.
The new Port Elgin elementary school will be based on a modified version of the Beavercrest Community School design in Markdale, with the addition of a second floor. It will have the capacity for 409 students with a planned 2028 opening.
BWDSB officials add that school naming and school boundary processes will be happening in the coming months.
