Bruce Road 15 repairs won't proceed until dam is fixed

Bruce Road 15 in Pinkerton could be closed for the summer, after flooding from the Teeswater River breached a private dam.

Bruce County Council received an update on the road's condition from transportation staff this week, and members heard while work is expected to be minor, it won't be carried out anytime soon.

Director Adam Stanley told council that the engineers at B.M. Ross have recommended that they hold off on repairs until waters recede and the private dam is fixed. The timeline for that work is anywhere between May and August.

Local traffic has access to their properties, but Stanley acknowledged that it is inconvenient for the road to be closed to through traffic from Banting Line to Greenock Sideroad 5, especially during planting season. A detour remains in place.

Staff estimated that their should be enough contingencies within the roadways maintenance budget to cover the future repair costs.
