The Municipality of Kincardine has a new Deputy Mayor.
Councillor Mike Hinchberger was appointed to the position on April 22, in keeping with requirements under the Municipal Act, 2001. He will stay in the role until November 14, which is when a new council will be voted in.
The Deputy Mayor position became vacant, following the resignation of Andrea Clarke, who was appointed to be a part-time deputy judge.
Hinchberger's Councillor seat has now been declared vacant.
According to the municipality, a by-election will not be held to fill the seat, as it happened after March 31 in a municipal election year. Council will appoint someone to fill the seat for the rest of the term. Details about that are expected to come in the coming weeks.
