Gardeners can grow their skills at Owen Sound library

The Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library is bringing back the Gardener in Residence Program aimed at helping local residents improve their gardening knowledge and skills.

Members of the Grey County Master Gardeners will be on hand for two sessions this spring.

Those sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 and Monday, April 20, running from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the library auditorium. Each date will begin with a registered demonstration at 2:00 p.m., followed by a drop-in advice clinic from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.

March’s program will focus on seed starting, with a hands-on format that explores when and how to plant seeds indoors and outdoors. Participants are encouraged to bring their own seeds and seed-starting trays, although some materials will also be available.

In April, the session will shift to transplanting, re-potting, and dividing plants. Attendees will learn techniques for moving seedlings and established plants, as well as methods for dividing perennials, with time set aside for questions.

Master Gardeners across Ontario are experienced volunteers who have completed extensive horticultural training and continue to build their expertise through ongoing education. They use this knowledge to provide reliable gardening advice to the public.

Anyone interested in attending a demonstration or seeking additional details is asked to contact the library directly by phone or email to register, at 519-376-6623 ext. 3 or info@library.osngupl.ca
