Saugeen Shores police are looking for suspects in a series of break-ins over the past two and a half months, including one that left a Port Elgin home with extensive damage.
The first of the five break-ins happened on December 27 at a home on Hillcrest Drive in Port Elgin. The homeowner was inside the residence at the time, police said. Then sometime between January 9 and February 24, a home on Bricker Street in Port Elgin was broken into. In this incident the interior of the home was damaged extensively by the culprits. The final break-in in the town happened on February 19 around 6:40 p.m. Police noted the suspects in this incident took off with personal property from the home.
A barber shop in Southampton was broken into sometime overnight February 10 to 11. Property from within the business was taken. In the fifth break-in, suspects went inside a home on Concession 8 in the Town of Saugeen Shores.
Police noted that in some of the cases DNA was found at the scene by investigators. It has since been sent for analysis. In all of the incidents, police are working to identify suspects and are asking anyone with information to call investigators at 519-832-2500.
Police have not said whether they believe the same individuals are responsible for all five break-ins.
