The Municipality of Kincardine’s 2026 Budget was deemed adopted on Thursday.
Next year's budget comes with 2.88 per cent tax rate increase for residents, which the Municipality says represents an increase of approximately $74 per year for an average home assessed at $275,000.
This was the Municipality's first budget process under Ontario's new Strong Mayor Powers, and Mayor Ken Craig said it maintains existing programs and services while investing in critical infrastructure and community amenities that support residents and visitors.
"The provincially implemented 2026 budget process helped Council remain focused on maintaining core services, while making targeted investments in community safety, financial resilience, and support for our local hospital," he said.
The budget includes funds for: upgrades to water and wastewater treatment systems, purchase of a new landfill shredder to help extend the landfill’s operating life, construction of the All Wheel Park at the Davidson Centre and more enhancements at Station Beach.
In addition, Council approved a $600,000 contribution to the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation’s expansion project to support access to quality health care close to home.
