Monkton teen wins $900K

A Monkton teen is rolling in his namesake, after winning $900,000 with OLG's the Bigger Spin Instant game.

Cash Goodyer, an 18-year-old skilled trades worker, purchased the winning ticket at Listowel Variety Store on Argyle Avenue North.

While visiting the OLG Prize Centre for his Bigger Spin event on October 28, he said he’s purchased a few lottery tickets since turning 18, inspired by other big winners and hoping to experience that excitement for himself.

"I saw videos of Bigger Spin events on Instagram and that’s why I started buying tickets for this game," he said in a release. "I knew I won an in-store spin on my ticket and was expecting a small win of $10 or $20. When the store clerk started freaking out, I had no idea what was happening. They told me someone from OLG was going to call me, and I couldn’t believe it."

Goodyer sported his Johnny Cash t-shirt at the spin, as he was named after the music legend. The Bigger Spin Wheel offers prizes between $500,000 to $1 million.

"What an amazing day," he said. "I feel awesome. This win is a chance for me to have an incredible head start at this time in my life."

With his prize, Goodyer plans to invest, purchase a home, and perhaps treat himself to some outdoor toys or a fun trip.
