Ontario invests over $20M in Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound municipalities

The Province of Ontario is providing more than $20.7 million to municipalities across the riding of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound to support essential infrastructure projects and municipal services.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers said the funding is part of the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF), an annual program that helps smaller, rural, and northern communities maintain and improve local services.

“As a former municipal councillor myself, I know just how important the OMPF is to our local councils,” said Vickers, the first-term Member of Provincial Parliament for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound. “Municipalities across Ontario depend on the OMPF to help fund our roads and bridges, emergency services, and much more. I know this funding will be put to great use by local municipal leaders.”

This year, the OMPF is receiving a record $600 million, marking a $50-million increase over last year’s funding. The program is designed to support municipalities that face geographic challenges or have a limited property tax base, ensuring they have the resources to maintain services for residents.

In Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, the funding for 2026 will be distributed across municipalities, including all of Grey County (except the Town of the Blue Mountains), Arran-Elderslie, and the Bruce Peninsula. Among the allocations, Southern Bruce Peninsula will receive $3,775,300, Hanover $2,526,900, and Owen Sound $2,292,400. Smaller municipalities such as Chatsworth and Southgate will receive $1,131,500 and $933,900, respectively, reflecting per-household allocations ranging from $186 to $652.

Georgian Bluffs will see $1,032,800, and Grey Highlands is expecting $1,150,500. Meaford's allocation is $1,712,400. Arran Elderlie will receive $1,977,500. Northern Bruce Peninsula's share is $2,226,500, and West Grey will receive $1,979,600.

The provincial support aims to provide local leaders with the flexibility to prioritize infrastructure projects, maintain essential services, and ensure the continued growth and safety of communities across Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound
