Strong winds to blow through parts of midwestern Ontario

People in parts of midwestern Ontario can expect strong, gusty winds throughout the day on Monday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Owen Sound, northern Grey County, Bruce Peninsula, Sauble Beach, and Tobermory. The national weather agency warns strong southwest winds will gust up to 80 kilometres an hour before changing to gusts from the west or northwest later in the day. Accompanying the wind will be rain and a daytime high of 12 C.

The winds will have enough force to toss loose objects and cause tree branches to break. There could also be power outages associated with the strong winds.

The winds will diminish Monday night, Environment Canada said.
