Upper Grand District School Board launches new PSW program

A new Personal Support Worker (PSW) program has been launched as part of Upper Grand District School Board's (UGDSB) Continuing Education Program.

The new 38-week PSW program will begin in January 2026 at the Guelph Continuing Education campus.

This program is designed to be hands-on and built around students who want to pursue a meaningful career in healthcare support in homes, long-term care settings, and more. Participants will gain practical experience, certification opportunities, and connections to employers.

Tuition for this program is covered through a special grant from the Ontario Ministry of Health. Students just pay a refundable deposit of $200 plus purchase of shoes and scrubs.

Entry requirements include being at least 18-years-old, English literacy (CLB6), proof of citizenship or immigration status, immunization record, physician’s clearance, and a Vulnerable Sector Check by December 19, 2025. You must also attend an information session and complete an entrance exam.

Dates for the sessions are

• Tuesday November 4 - 5:00 p.m. at College Heights Cafetorium, 371 College Ave. West

• Thursday November 6 - 5:00 p.m. at College Heights Cafetorium, 371 College Ave. West
