Owen Sound Attack mourn passing of former fan club president

The Owen Sound Attack and its fans are mourning the passing of longtime fan club president Helen Lewis.

In a statement from the hockey club, it was revealed that Lewis passed away on Monday, October 13 while listening to the team's away game in North Bay.

Lewis served as the fan club president for the Owen Sound Platers and Attack franchises for 27 years from 1991 to 2018, when health challenges made it difficult for her to continue in her role.

She always remained an avid fan of the club and supporter of the Attack Pak Fan Club. Lewis organized bus trips to away games and raised money for player gifts through game night draws and donations among many other things, something the club states that it will be "forever indebted to her for."

The team will hold a moment of silence prior to its Wednesday game against the Barrie Colts. Details about Helen's funeral arrangements are not available at this time but will be shared soon on the Attack website.

"It was sad to hear of Helen's passing today. My thoughts and prayers go out to Brian and their family and friends" said Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. "On behalf of the Attack organization, I would like to thank Helen for the countless hours she spent organizing for and supporting the team. Helen will be missed by many, especially those around the Attack organization. Rest in Peace Helen."
