Hanover police launch online record checks

Hanover residents now have the option to apply for police record checks online.

The Hanover Police Service announced it has partnered with Triton Canada Inc. to offer the service in a more convenient way.

"Whether the applicant requires a criminal record check, criminal record and judicial matters check or a vulnerable sector check, the process is simple, secure, and accessible that still guarantees a turnaround time of one to two weeks, depending on current volumes," police said in a statement.

To apply for a police record check online, you just have to go to hanoverpolice.ca, scroll over to the "service" tab and select "police record checks". The service is available electronically 24 hours a day, seven days a week and does not require a visit to police headquarters.

Police noted that only applications for record checks by Hanover residents can be processed by the local police service. Anyone who applies with a primary address outside of the town will see their application rejected and may not receive a refund. This is in accordance with the Criminal Records Act, police said.
