'I stood there in shock': Chesley trucker wins $100K

A truck driver from Chesley is eyeing a spring vacation after winning $100,000 in a July lottery draw.

Kenneth Wilson matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order to win the six-figure sum in the July 4 Lotto Max draw. The father of three, who has been playing the lottery on and off for a decade, noted that until now he had only ever won small prizes.

“I went into the gas station and checked a few tickets,” Wilson said while picking up his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I won free plays on the first few. Then I scanned the last one and discovered it was a big win. I stood there in shock, trying to figure out if it was real. I called my partner right away, and like me, she was in disbelief.”

After confirming the win, Wilson went on to share the news with his coworkers and uncle.

“They were all so excited and happy,” Wilson said.

He plans to use the money to pay off some bills, invest, and possibly take a spring vacation.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Chesley Convenience Plus on First Avenue South in Chesley.
