Council members and senior municipal staff from the Municipality of Kincardine have joined more than 2,000 officials from across Ontario in Ottawa this week for the 2025 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference.
Throughout the four-day event, Kincardine’s delegation will hold meetings with three provincial ministries.
With the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the focus will be on process support for the Bruce C Project and Ontario’s electricity infrastructure. Discussions with the Ministry of Sport will highlight the importance of continued provincial investment in recreation facilities, while the meeting with the Ministry of Transportation will address winter storms and highway closures, as well as streamlining provincial permitting to support local development.
In addition to these sessions, municipal representatives will take part in broader conference programming on emergency preparedness, Ontario’s energy future, Great Lakes protection, and other key issues impacting municipalities across the province.
Representing Kincardine at this year’s conference are Mayor Kenneth Craig, Councillors Rory Cavanagh, Jennifer Prenger, Amanda Steinhoff-Gray, and Beth Blackwell, along with Chief Administrative Officer Jillene Bellchamber-Glazier.
“The AMO Conference is a key opportunity to engage directly with provincial leaders and advocate for the priorities of our residents,” said Mayor Craig. “Face-to-face meetings help us build relationships, bring important local concerns to the forefront, and work toward solutions that make life better back home.”
The AMO Conference is recognized as one of the most significant annual gatherings of municipal leaders in Ontario, featuring discussions on infrastructure, climate resiliency, sustainable growth, and the role of local government in powering the province’s future.
