Local humane society lands $100K donation toward expansion

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth (HSKWSP) is another $100,000 closer to its $6 million fundraising goal for a planned expansion.

Elmira Pet Products donated the large sum to the humane society's Better Together Capital Campaign, which is now up to $4,033,636. As part of the new partnership with Canada's largest private label dry pet food manufacturer, the humane society will name the donation intake area within its new community outreach centre "The Elmira Pet Products Donation Centre".

“We are deeply grateful to Elmira Pet Products for their extraordinary support,” Victoria Baby, CEO of HSKWSP, said in a statement. “This is more than a donation, it’s a powerful investment in the future of animal welfare in our region. Their generosity helps us expand our impact and continue providing vital services to pets and families who need them most.”

Once built, the new Community Outreach Centre will allow the humane society to expand its services to meet the rising community demand. This includes new space for the pet pantry program and other outreach services, enhanced medical and surgical care, and education programs. A garage will also be added for the safe storage of a future mobile outreach vehicle.

"Supporting the Humane Society’s vision is more than a commitment, it is a reflection of our values,” President and CEO of Elmira Pet Products Bryan Cook said. “We believe that when we come together for a greater cause, we elevate our community and create lasting change. We are honoured to stand alongside the Humane Society in making a meaningful difference, today and for years to come.”
