The Township of Huron-Kinloss is receiving a major boost in support for local infrastructure, with the Ontario government investing $529,500 to upgrade two vital recreational facilities: the Lucknow Community Centre and the Ripley-Huron Community Centre.
The funding comes through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF), a province-wide $200 million initiative designed to support communities in revitalizing local facilities, boosting the economy, and encouraging active lifestyles.
“I’m pleased to see the Township of Huron-Kinloss receive this well-deserved investment through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “These upgrades to the Lucknow Community Centre and the Ripley-Huron Community Centre will ensure that both facilities continue to serve as safe, welcoming, and modern spaces for residents of all ages to gather, stay active, and take pride in their local facilities. This funding demonstrates our government’s commitment to supporting rural infrastructure and enhancing quality of life across Huron-Bruce.”
The funds will help replace the roof of the Lucknow Community Centre and support a new ice plant and storage at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre
“The Township of Huron-Kinloss is grateful to the Province of Ontario for this investment through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund. This funding will allow us to replace the roof of the Lucknow Community Centre, helping preserve the building for another 40 to 50 years and supporting the local service clubs that manage it," said Huron-Kinloss Mayor Don Murray. "We were proud to support the grant application and aim to complete the project by September 2025. The funding will also support upgrades at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre, including a new ice plant and added storage for user groups.”
The Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund is part of the government’s broader $200 billion infrastructure investment plan, which includes highways, transit, hospitals, and other critical projects to support Ontario’s growth and well-being.
“Our government is proud to support organizations delivering better services while creating opportunities for children and young people," stated Minister of Sport Neil Lumsden. "With investments in infrastructure like this, we are protecting Ontario jobs, strengthening our communities and building a more resilient and self-reliant economy.”
