Hanover launching food truck pilot program to boost public spaces

The Town of Hanover is rolling out the welcome mat for food trucks this summer with the launch of a new Food Truck Pilot Program, offering local food entrepreneurs a chance to serve up their specialties in popular community spaces.

Running from August 1 to October 5, 2025, the pilot program aims to support small businesses while enhancing the vibrancy of Hanover’s public areas. Local food vendors are being invited to apply for a spot in the rotating schedule of food trucks planned for select locations around town.

Each location can accommodate a maximum of two food trucks at a time. Scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis, and participants are required to pre-select their preferred days and locations for operation during the 10-week period.

Interested operators must complete an application and submit key documentation including proof of valid insurance, public health approval, and a fire inspection certificate.

A non-refundable fee of $325 is required upon approval. However, that fee is reduced to $200 for applicants who can provide documentation of a valid fire inspection, lowering costs for those already in compliance.

The participation fee helps cover administrative support, site scheduling, compliance monitoring, and coordination throughout the pilot project. The program is open to food truck operators who meet all licensing, health, and fire safety requirements. Approved vendors will be scheduled to operate at designated public locations, including the River Lot at Town Park (780 7th Ave.), the Rexall Lot at Heritage Square (358 10th St.), 612 10th Street, and the former Launch Pad site.

Applications can be submitted online through the Town’s website at hanover.ca.
