Two local projects aimed at bringing people together and improving community life in the Township of Southgate are receiving a boost from the Southgate Community Fund.
Managed by Community Foundation Grey Bruce since 2020, the Southgate Community Fund supports charitable and non-profit projects that enhance quality of life in the community. Through its Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) program, the fund awards $500 grants to grassroots initiatives led by groups of residents rather than formal organizations.
This spring, the Southgate Community Fund awarded Neighbourhood Small Grants to a couple of projects.
The Dundalk Santa Claus Parade is an annual event that celebrates the holiday season with a motorized parade, hot chocolate, loot bags, and festive entertainment for families and those with mobility challenges.
The Community First Housing Southgate is a project tackling the ongoing housing crisis by hosting community engagement meetings throughout the township to discuss, investigate, and identify potential local solutions.
“Neighbourhood Small Grants are an effective way to bring community together and to support strong ties between neighbours in Southgate communities," said Karl Ellis, Chair of the Southgate Community Fund Advisory Committee. "Congratulations and thanks to the recipients for their efforts.”
Community Foundation Grey Bruce currently manages eight community funds across Grey and Bruce Counties, dedicated to fostering vibrant and connected communities.
The next deadline for Community Grant applications is September 15, 2025. Eligible organizations are encouraged to visit communityfoundationgreybruce.com for more information or to donate.
