OPP advise drivers to be cautious during Terry Fox National Ride of Hope

The annual Terry Fox National Ride of Hope will be coming through Grey and Bruce Counties this summer, and the OPP are urging drivers to be cautious.

On Saturday, June 28, the annual bike ride fundraiser is national cycling event, and this year marks the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope, with a core group of riders-including Darrell Fox, Terry's brother, cycling across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.

In terms of riders in Grey and Bruce, the Grey Bruce OPP shared in a media release that the cyclists will enter the region via Tobermory, proceed south on Highway 6 through Georgian Bluffs, and continue east on Highway 26 through Owen Sound and into Meaford.

The ride will be escorted by OPP motorcycle units and cruisers to ensure the safety of both riders and the public.

Also, Grey Bruce OPP Constable Belanger, a resident of the Bruce Peninsula for over 25 years, will be participating in the ride.

Drivers are asked to be respectful of the riders and drive carefully.
