The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance (LWHA) has welcomed a new family physician.
According to a media release from the LWHA, Dr. Christine Arjoon has moved to Listowel and will begin practicing out of the Listowel Family Health Organization.
Dr. Arjoon's arrival is "an important step in addressing the critical physician shortage impacting healthcare access in our region. With numerous residents currently without a family doctor, Dr. Arjoon’s arrival will greatly enhance access to timely, community-based care," according to the LWHA media release.
Originally educated in the West Indies, Dr. Arjoon has worked as a general practitioner since 2015. She joins the LWHA through Ontario’s Practice Ready Program, which assists internationally trained physicians in becoming licensed to practice in Ontario.
Residents interested in becoming patients of Dr. Arjoon are encouraged to register with Health Care Connect by calling Health811 (dial 811) or 1-800-445-1822, or by visiting Health Care Connect.
"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Arjoon to our community," said Esther Millar, President and CEO of the Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance. "Her passion for outreach, patient education, and mentorship reflects the values we strive for at LWHA—a commitment to learning, compassion, and community service. We’re excited to have her join our team and contribute to the kind of care that builds stronger, healthier communities."
