HPPH alerts community to seven possible new measles exposures

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is advising the community of seven new possible measles exposures.

The exposures occurred in Stratford and Mitchell last week.

The Health Unit says that anyone who was at the following locations needs to monitor for measles signs and symptoms for 21 days after exposure.

Foodland | 581 Downie St., Stratford: Tuesday, June 3, from 7 to 9:15 a.m.

Long and McQuade | 145 Erie St., Stratford: Tuesday, June 3, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Shoppers Drug Mart | 211 Ontario St., Stratford: Wednesday, June 4 from 4 to 6 p.m.

North Easthope Public School | 4672 Road 108, Stratford: Thursday, June 5, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Shoppers Drug Mart | 211 Ontario St., Stratford: Thursday, June 5 from 5:55 to 8 p.m.

On Stage Dance Studio | 172 Ontario St., Stratford: Thursday, June 5 from 5:50 to 9:45 p.m.

Shell Station | 5878 Line 34, Mitchell: Friday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

This warning includes those who were present at the location only briefly as measles is highly contagious and can linger in the air for up to two hours.

HPPH says it completes case management and contact tracing for confirmed cases of measles. If they cannot reach everyone who was exposed, the public is notified of a possible community exposure.
