Dinosaur exhibit launches at Grey Roots Museum

A new exhibit at Grey Roots Museum and Archives will give attendees an idea of what living, breathing dinosaurs were really like.

The Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas, exhibition opens at on Saturday, May 17.

The opening day will feature festivities including a special "Meet the Expert" session with renowned paleontologist Tim Jeffries from 10 a.m. to noon and a screening of Disney’s Dinosaur at 2 p.m.

All activities are included with regular admission.

"We’re thrilled to welcome dinosaurs back to Grey Roots," says Jill Paterson, Manager at Grey Roots Museum and Archives. "This exhibit is all about sparking curiosity and wonder, and we can’t wait to see the museum buzzing with school groups, tourists, and local families exploring together."

The exhibition, organized by the American Museum of Natural History, uses a combination of fossil finds, computer simulations, and intriguing models to update our knowledge of dinosaurs and the scientists who study them.

Grey Roots says visitors can explore new theories about dinosaurs: what they looked like, how they behaved, and how they moved.

"This exhibition illustrates how scientists are using different ideas, discoveries, and technologies to revolutionize our understanding of dinosaurs," says Mark A. Norell, curator of Dinosaur Discoveries. "Our work reaches across many disciplines involving paleontologists, biomechanical engineers, paleobotanists, and others to showcase how we go about reconstructing the mysterious life of dinosaurs."

The exhibition, presented in part through the support of Bruce Power, runs from May 17 to September 20. For details, visit greyroots.com/dinosaurs.
