Grey Bruce Public Health issues Measles Exposure Alert for locations in Hanover

Grey Bruce Public Health is warning of possible measles exposure at several locations in Hanover following a confirmed case.

The potential exposure sites and times are:

-Wow! Wing House, April 18 from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

-Danny’s Hotel, April 19 from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m.

-The Alley, April 19 from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.

-Danny’s Hotel, April 20 from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m.

-Shoppers Drug Mart, April 23 from 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Anyone who visited these places during those times is urged to confirm their vaccination status, monitor for symptoms, and contact a healthcare provider if needed. Symptoms can appear 7 to 21 days after exposure and include fever, cough, sore eyes, and a rash.

Ontario is dealing with a measles outbreak, with more than 1,000 cases reported across 15 public health units since last fall. Grey-Bruce has recorded six confirmed and five probable cases since April 20.

Public Health says vaccination is the best defence against measles. A full list of exposure sites and information is available on GBPH’s website.
