Local garden enthusiasts and plant lovers are invited to attend Seedy Saturday on March 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The event, held at the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library, offers a free opportunity to explore gardening, seed saving, and sustainable growing practices.
Seedy Saturday will feature an array of activities and opportunities to connect with local producers, plant enthusiasts, and garden specialists.
Attendees can learn about heirloom and open-pollinated seeds, seed-saving techniques, food forests, community gardens, and the importance of native pollinators.
Local experts participating in the event include By the Bluffs, CMHA Fresh Roots Food Forest and Community Garden, Fiddlehead Nursery, Franken Farm, Eden in Season, Grey County Gardeners, Grey County Master Gardeners, Luna Mia Farm, NeighbourWoods North, and Persephone Market Garden.
A Houseplant Cutting Swap and Share will offer attendees the chance to exchange plant cuttings. Additionally, children can enjoy the potting table, where they can plant a seed to take home and nurture. Visitors are encouraged to participate in the Seed Lending Library. The library allows gardeners to borrow seeds, grow their plants, and then save seeds to donate back, fostering a spirit of sustainability and community sharing.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a newcomer with a green thumb in training, Seedy Saturday promises to provide a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and grow. For more information, contact event organizers or visit local community garden and horticultural society websites.
