Huron-Bruce riding won by Thompson for a fifth-straight time

Incumbent Lisa Thompson has been re-elected to represent the Huron-Bruce riding in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for a fifth consecutive time.

The Progressive Conservative captured 50 per cent of the vote in the riding.

At a celebration at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club, the Minister of Rural Affairs said she's excited to have another opportunity to represent the riding.

"I've worked incredibly hard since 2018 when we first formed government, bringing in over $600 million worth of investments," she said. "I can tell you with the municipal leadership I have behind me, there's more projects to work on collectively, and I can't wait to get back to work with everyone who makes a difference on behalf of Huron-Bruce."

Thompson said when she was out door-knocking, the threat from across the border was one of the main concerns that came up.

"We have a gentleman by the name of Doug Ford that takes his job very seriously and we need a strong stable government to go up against Trump's threats... They want to see people fighting for here and home and that's my number one priority and I'm going to be standing shoulder to shoulder with Premier Ford to protect Ontario."

Thompson defeated Liberal candidate Ian Burbidge, NDP candidate Nick McGregor, Green candidate Matthew Van Ankum, Zack Weiler of the New Blue and Bruce Eisen of the Alliance.
