The Chatham Maroons made easy work of their first two games of the season.
The team opened the season on Saturday in London, beating the Nationals 4-1.
Dylan Richter scored the Maroons' first goal early in the second period. Getting the assists were Eddie Hickson and Andrew Baker.
Baker would score his first Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) goal later in the period, with Hickson and Richter getting the assists.
London would score early in the third period, but Parker Nyitray restored the Maroons' two-goal lead after scoring his first goal for the team in two seasons. Richter and Baker with the helpers.
Capping the scoring was Eric Wood, whose empty-net goal was his first GOHL goal.
Gannon Hunter made 28 saves for his first win with the Maroons since clinching the 2025 Sutherland Cup.
The Maroons followed up their first win of the season with a dominant performance during their home opener.
The team hosted the Komoka Kings on Sunday, winning 6-2.
It was Komoka who opened the scoring, but Baker's second the year tied the game before the first intermission. The assists on the play went to Santiago Jimenes and Hickson.
Nyitray gave the Maroons their first lead in the second period, with Baker and Jimenes getting the helpers.
Komoka would tie the game before Hickson found the back of the net for his first Maroons goal since the 2023/24 season. Baker once again got a helper, with the other assist going to Richter.
Jimenes added his first of the season in the third period from Baker and Hickson.
Logan McAulay scored his first GOHL goal late in the game from Baker and Richter, before Matteo Mosca finished the scoring with his first of the season from Richter and Hickson.
Hunter would make another 28 saves for the win.
Baker's eight points in the first two games put him second in league scoring, while Richter and Hickson are tied for third with six points.
The Maroons will be back in action on Friday in Stratford against the Warriors.
