Chatham Diamonds win U15 provincial championship

Chatham 15U Diamonds are provincial champions for the fourth time in five years.

The team won the 2026 Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) 15U A Provincial Championship in Muskoka over the weekend. The team previously won in 2022, 2024, and 2025.

The quest for a third straight title started on the wrong foot as the Diamonds lost their first game to the Soo Black Sox.

"They were really caught off guard by how well Soo played against us," said Jason Chickowski, Head Coach of the Diamonds.

The team would eventually get a rematch in the championship game. This time, they won 20-5.

Chickowski explained that the game was closer than the score indicates, as Soo was within three runs at one point.

"Our boys were eventually able to take advantage of some pitching depth issues that Soo had at the end, and we were able to get our bats cracking at the right time," he added.

Chickowski believes the team's success helps justify calling CK a baseball community.

"It shows in the quality of the baseball players that we're able to produce," he said.
