Three dedicated politicians around the council table in Chatham-Kent (CK) who weren't re-elected are saying goodbye.
Veteran councillor Marjorie Crew posted online saying that serving the CK community has been one of the greatest privileges of her life.
Crew was a councillor for 16 years and said she leaves public office with a full heart and immense gratitude.
"I want to thank everyone who supported me throughout the years, from volunteers and supporters to residents who shared their ideas, concerns, and vision for our municipality," said Crew.
Crew noted her commitment to Chatham-Kent will continue even though this chapter is ending.
She wishes the new council and mayor success and wisdom as they take the community forward.
Darrin Canniff also posted online saying that serving as mayor of Chatham-Kent has been one of the greatest honours of his life.
"While the election results were not what I had hoped for, I want to sincerely thank the residents of Chatham-Kent for the trust, encouragement, and support you have shown me throughout my time as mayor," Canniff said.
He noted he's incredibly proud of what the community has accomplished together, calling CK a special place to call home.
Canniff also congratulated the newly elected mayor and council, wishing each of them every success as they take on this important responsibility.
In another online post, mayoral candidate Lauren Anderson said her heart is full, but a bit heavy after Monday night's loss.
"While the election may not have ended the way I had hoped, I walk away with something far greater than I ever imagined. A lifetime of memories, friendships, lessons, and a deeper love for Chatham-Kent and the incredible people who call it home," she noted.
She thanked everyone who supported her throughout the campaign and also wished the newly elected mayor and councillors success as they take on the responsibility of leading the municipality.
