Tilbury man accused of choking partner

A 63-year-old man has been charged for allegedly choking and burning his partner.

At around 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Chatham-Kent police were called to a home in Tilbury.

When officers arrived, they were told by the victim that she was sleeping when her partner started assaulting her.

She explained to police that she was choked briefly and burned by a lit cigarette.

The man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
