Chatham man arrested for break-in on Christmas

A 30-year-old man has been charged with breaking into a Chatham business.

The alleged incident happened back on Christmas at a business on Richmond Street.

Chatham-Kent (CK) police say video surveillance showed a man wearing a disguise breaking into the building and stealing multiple items.

Later that same day, officers pulled over a man riding a bike who matched the description of the suspect in the video.

According to police, the man was carrying break-and-enter tools and several stolen items.

He was arrested and charged with breaking and entering to commit theft, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in tools, and failing to comply with a release order.

The man remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
